Remember a few weeks ago when we were looking for new models? Well it was tough but we managed to pick and we're ready to introduce the beauties into the world! First up is the wonderful Farah!
What made you want to be involved with Neon Moon?
I first became aware of Neon Moon through Maya, one of your beautiful models, who I happened to go to school with. I saw her photos on Instagram and consequently looked into the brand, and loved what I saw. The inclusivity, the untouched photos, the badass female CEO – I thought to myself, ‘this is something I’d love to get involved with’ - so when I saw the model call out, I jumped at the chance!
Who has influenced you most throughout your life?
I’d say my old drama teacher and director that I’ve known since the age of five! She cast me in my first acting role at school, she instilled confidence in me through performance and she’s the whole reason I went on to pursue drama school many years later. She’s a hilarious lady with a strong, no-nonsense attitude that I’ve always admired, and she’s now a dear friend of mine.
What has been your hardest struggle to overcome?
Moving on from a toxic, emotionally abusive relationship that left me feeling worthless, untrusting and weak. Getting over the effects of that has been the hardest thing I’ve had to do, but with the help of the incredible friends and family I’m lucky enough to have surrounding me, I came out of it stronger than ever.
When have you been the proudest of yourself?
Probably after doing a performance at my drama school about my past struggles with body image, dieting and binge eating. It was really scary to write something that was so personal and revealing and perform it in front a load of students and lecturers, but when I had girls approaching me afterwards to tell me how much they had resonated with what I was saying, I felt immensely proud. It showed me the importance of being vocal about these kinds of issues that women all too often feel they have to keep quiet about.
If you could give one piece of advice to women all over the world, what would it be?
Stop shrinking yourself. Stop making yourself smaller for the comfort of those around you. Stop minimising your being, stop suppressing your uniqueness, stop turning down the volume on who you are. Take up space!
What was the highlight of the Photoshoot?
I think the highlight for me happened while I was shooting my individual stuff, and the videographer asked me to move and dance in whatever way I liked. Despite feeling self-conscious for a fleeting second, I decided to just go for it; and in
that moment felt totally free, uninhibited, and sexy. All previous nervousness went out the window, which is something that I hadn’t been expecting but that happened because of the supportive and empowering environment that comes with working with such a gorgeous company as Neon Moon.
Amazing, isn't she! Stay tuned to meet the rest of the new team!
