Q&A With #ShadesOfYou Model, Isabelle
Posted on 24 March 2016
Showcasing women of colour in the lingerie industry is very important to us at Neon Moon, and so we just had to get Isabelle involved. A proud woman from the Philippines, Isabelle opens up about the importance of strong women influences and diversity of models in fashion. Have a read and let us know your thoughts below!
1. What made you want to be involved with Neon Moon?
I was approached by Hayat and was asked if I was interested in modelling for the brand. After looking into Neon Moon and its ideals I found that it sends such a positive message to women of all ages, shapes, sizes and colour. I just really wanted to get involved and do my bit to promote that.
2. Who has influenced you most throughout your life?
All the women in my family inspire me. Collectively, they are fantastic role models who have nurtured me and are hugely present in not just my life, but those of everyone in my family. I am extremely lucky to have such a strong support system. I also love Lena Dunham and everything she stands for.
3. What has been your hardest struggle to overcome?
I would not say I have ultimately overcome it, but accepting you for who you are is always a struggle. It is very easy to compare your looks and your life to other peoples- especially with social media so present in society. I just remind myself that I am my own person, this is my life and I am doing my best.
4. When have you been the most proud of yourself?
When I passed my driving test!
5. If you could give one piece of advice to women all over the world, what would it be?
Its hard, but try to stop comparing yourself with other people. Things change, you change and grow as a person- just do you. I need remind myself to do this all the time!
6. What does Neon Moon's campaign #NeonMoonCelebrateYou mean to you?
Personally I love it because the campaign and Neon Moon itself promotes diversity in every way. As a Filipino woman, I grew up believing in a specific set of ideals when it came to beauty which played apart in my self acceptance. We need to see women represented in the media fairly and authentically. Neon Moon believes and encourages this very important ethos.
