Q&A With #NeonMoonCelebrateYou Model, Laura
Posted on 09 February 2016
With the launch of our amazing new campaign video #NeonMoonCelebrateYou, all this week we will be interviewing our models and we commence with asking the lovely Laura 5 questions!
1. What made you want to be involved with Neon Moon?
I did some modelling a few years ago and even though I enjoyed the element of performance in it, I found it a bit same-y in the sense that the industry adhered to and promoted a certain type of womanhood. Unlike many brands, especially lingerie brands, Neon Moon isn’t trying to create an image for women to aspire to, but instead show that women should aspire to be their own authentic selves. Also, it felt pretty great knowing that I could take part in a lingerie campaign without getting told off for not shaving my legs!
2. Who has influenced you most throughout your life?
My family, in both good and bad ways.
3. What has been your hardest struggle to overcome?
I was bullied throughout my school years for being “different” (what does that even mean??). I’ve learnt to be more outspoken and to fight back if I’m being disrespected, and most importantly, not to take things personally.
4. If you could give one piece of advice to agender or asexual people all over the world, what would it be?
Don’t settle. Ever.
5. What does Neon Moon's campaign #NeonMoonCelebrateYou mean to you?
Growing up, the “be yourself” narrative was everywhere – but as the non-conformist I was, to me it spelt more like “you can be yourself, but only if you’re ___ and ___ and ___.” Neon Moon’s campaign is about feeling good in your own skin and not letting any amount of peer pressure and social conditioning take that away from you.
